" the
Sierra Club doesn't typically go down without a fight."
--Texas
Monthly, March 2003, commenting on the Sierra Club's opposition to
drilling on Padre Island National Seashore
Now there's an understatement! Not only do we not go down
without a fight - we don't usually go down. Despite the challenges to
environmental protection here in Texas, your investment in the Lone
Star Chapter of the Sierra Club is working to meet those challenges.
Your recent contributions to the Lone Star Chapter have helped to:
· Save
Christmas Mountains and promote investment in State
Parks
· Pursue legal action
against drilling on Padre Island National Seashore
· Appeal the EPA's
approval of inadequate air pollution cleanup
· Educate young Texans
on the value of nature
· Expand the campaign to protect
the "wide open spaces" of Texas
· Fight pollution
in watersheds and protect drinking water
· Mobilize
Texans against the proposed Marvin Nichols Reservoir
· Oppose radioactive
waste dumping, expansion of nuclear power and uranium
mining
Your generosity has an impact far beyond what you may imagine. It has
a positive effect on the lives of Texans every day.
Right now the Lone Star Chapter is hard at work on issues of importance
to all Texans. We're working on legislation to:
· Promote Clean
Air and Clean Energy
· Enforce Current Pollution Laws
· Conserve Land and Wildlife
· Properly Manage Radioactive Waste
· Protect Water Resources
· Protect Coastal Resources
Whether you live in Houston,
San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, the suburbs,
the country, or a small Texas town, the Sierra
Club work affects the lives of you
and your community. Our commitment to solving problems
is always there, and we thank you for your part
in this valuable work. Your generosity in donating
your time and money to the Sierra Club is an investment
in the future of Texas. Please make your donation
today.
NOTE: Because of our active legislative lobbying acitivities, contributions to the Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club are not tax-deductible. For information on ways of aiding conservation work in Texas through tax-deductible contributions, please contact Chapter Director Ken Kramer at
